Here are some pics of one of the buildings sprouting up all around our compound. The number of soldiers at this compound is tripling, so they're building these structures to accommodate the increased office and sleeping space needed. As you can see, they're made from shipping containers. They stack them, weld them together, cut windows and doors out, then finish the interiors with a little insulation and paneling, add wiring and in some cases plumbing, and voila! You have an office building.

For this one, they cut down some trees in front of one of the houses here and built this structure in the front yard.

Another view.

Here's another photo from our 9-11 ceremony. Here, an Afghan man presented a hand-made rug to our CG in remembrance of the WTC

Here's a Kabul traffic jam. This is at Massud circle -- named after the great Warlord/leader that was assassinated two days before 9/11.

Here's a photo of all the Public Affairs Officers and senior NCO's (Sergeants) after we got together for a one day conference.

Me and two other PAOs with an Afghan National Army PAO and interpreter overlooking Afghan Army training camp. We sometimes mentor the ANA PAOs.
